Shantideva is a well known historical Buddhist sage in ancient India. Inspired by the exceptional story of this yogic monk, I have created this figurine called, 'Rise above the Nalanda Academy,' ~ his story in art. He would be akin to a rogue sage or crazy yogi. The wooden sword has a story: reference book: 'The Way of the Bodhisattva' page 176-177 (Appendix 1: Life of Shantideva, when Shantideva was the bodyguard of the King of ancient Magadha.) Figurine: 0.99% pure silver - painted. Ceremonial hat, cape, sword, vajra & bell, Nalanda structure: polymer clay painted. Close estimate of dimensions: Height: 11 cms Width: 7.8 cms Depth: 4 cms Weight: Figurine: 192 gram, Nalanda structure: 291 grams, Total: 483 grams Note: Due to the work involved, this figurine is available on buyer's/collector's commissioning the sculpture, with some degree of personalization. Hand sculpted, no mold. Note: This can be a religious statue for your altar if you feel drawn in by the beauty of Shantideva's Bodhisattva's actions, but it is not conceived as such. It is a creative work inspired by Shantideva's legacy.
