Judy Hamilton

I am a self-taught emerging Artist residing in Kelowna, BC. I am inspired by the colors, textures, flow and movement in nature and with a background in Photography, I have an eye for composition, that combination of elements and qualities that I now bring to my Art. I enjoy working in alcohol ink due to the vibrant and vivid colours and the way it moves and flows over a surface, with the certainty of magic. I am reminded of nature in each stroke or pour, which is why I create abstract art. Abstract art encourages my sense of wonder and my dreams, conjuring shapes from deep in my imagination. I manipulate the flow of the ink by various means, to create and build values, by blowing through a straw, using a brush and turning the paper in different directions. I’ve also painted directly on glass and clay board. Unexpected shapes and textures can appear, perhaps from my subconscious, which enhances the excitement and wonder of this medium. When people look at my Art I believe that the Art looks back at them, conveying a really colourful story and so I invite them and you to step inside.
