Call for Artists and Vendors: World of Art

Are you an artist or vendor inspired by the rich diversity of global cultures, the vastness of nature, or the adventures of travel? We invite you to showcase your unique creations at the World of Art, an immersive two-day art fair held on August 16th and 17th at the Multipurpose Hall in Duncan, within the Cowichan Community Centre.

This extraordinary event will celebrate the beauty of artistic expression influenced by different cultures, nature, and travel experiences. We're looking for talented artists and vendors to exhibit and sell their works, including:

  • Paintings

  • Sculptures

  • Photography

  • Mixed media pieces

  • Pottery

  • Natural products

  • Jewelry

  • Crafts

  • Food

  • And more!

In addition to the visual art displays, the fair will feature live music and dance performances that reflect various cultural traditions. Visitors will also be treated to a culinary journey with foods and beverages from around the world, perfectly complementing the artistic experience.

What it is

Join us August 16th & 17th at the Cowichan Community Centre’s Multipurpose Hall for a truly immersive art experience! The World of Art isn’t just an event—it’s a vibrant celebration of creativity, culture, and connection.

This two-day fair brings together artists, makers, and dreamers, showcasing stunning works inspired by global traditions, the beauty of nature, and the spirit of travel. From paintings and sculptures to totem poles, pottery, mixed media, and handcrafted treasures, every piece tells a story, reflecting the rich diversity of our world.

More than an exhibition, this is a gathering of community—a place to share inspiration, support local artists, and experience the joy of artistic expression together. Whether you're an artist, an admirer, or simply seeking a meaningful experience, this is where creativity and culture unite.

PLUS Live Indigenous Carving Demos by renowned carver Rupert Jeffery

The Line Up

OPENING THE SHOW EACH DAY. The Tzinquaw Dancers are an intergenerational dance troupe, honouring the traditional Quw'utsun dances and songs from the Cowichan Valley. Originating in the early 1960s, they embody and empower cultural identity and the Hul'qumi'num language with large and elaborate dances that have been passed down from their Elders.

Let the soothing sounds of ambient flute music transport you to a world of calm and contemplation at World of Art. This meditative performance by Samuel Kjell Smith blends airy tones and gentle melodies, evoking the rhythms of nature and the echoes of distant landscapes. Perfect for a moment of reflection or quiet inspiration, it’s an experience that invites you to simply breathe and be present.

Fusion Chibcha Performing live!.png

Fusión Chibcha is dedicated to showcasing the rich tapestry of Colombian folklore through vibrant dance and music. Our performances capture the essence of traditional Indigenous and Afro-Colombian rhythms, creating an immersive cultural experience for audiences of all backgrounds.

Maple Leaf Ballet.png

Classical ballet, clean technique and contemporary choreography, and the overall development and well-being of the dancer are our primary focuses since opening Maple Leaf School of Russian Ballet in 2012.We offer a rare opportunity for students outside of Russia to study the ballet methods taught at the Bolshoi Academy and Vaganova Academy.  We are proud of the exceptional caliber of training we provide to our dancers.

More than just steps and tradition, their performance celebrates self-expression, creativity, and the joy of community. With a passion for storytelling through movement, these talented dancers bring Celtic culture to life with energy, heart, and unforgettable footwork.

Prepare to be swept away by the Vesna Ukrainian Dancers and Choir at The World of Art! This dynamic ensemble brings the spirit of Ukraine to life through vibrant choreography and soul-stirring harmonies. Dressed in traditional attire and performing with heartfelt pride, their show is a celebration of resilience, culture, and community you won’t want to miss.

With silk fans swirling like painted flames and hula hoops spinning in hypnotic motion, this performance will have you dancing and inspired. Frolicking through the crowd, Coco becomes a living canvas—an immersive expression of joy, freedom, and kinetic beauty. Set to an eclectic soundtrack of awesome beats, each moment is unscripted, alive, and electric. This is not just a performance—it’s a celebration of presence and expression.

Call for Student & Cultural Performers: World of Art

Are you a student or cultural performer with a passion for showcasing your talents? Do you have a love for art, music, dance, or cultural expression? We invite you to be a part of the World of Art, an immersive art fair celebrating the diversity of global cultures, the vastness of nature, & the inspiration that travel brings to artistic expression.

What We're Looking For: We are seeking talented students & cultural performers to contribute to the event's live performances. This includes:

Musicians: Solo artists, bands, & instrumentalists

Dancers: Traditional, contemporary, & cultural dance groups

Theater Artists: Performers of traditional & cultural plays

Cultural Demonstrations: Artists showcasing traditional crafts, rituals, or demonstrations
