| Tulips and Time If tulips (originating from the word ‘turban’) suggest an outward and upward (!!!) blossoming , we may not be astonished at the ‘uplifting’ beauty of the tulipa gesneriana. If in the past the tulip was considered an ‘imported luxury-botanic especially in Northern- Europe, it soon became a staple bulb and bloom in the Netherlands. As such, being Dutch ourselves and having grown up in the Netherlands , the numerous species of tulips in our country garden left a charming impression on our youthful minds. Thus we paint tulips ad infinitum, appreciating their birth from the black soil, their rising up into the spring season weather, their sway in the wind, their bending down when old and in the end, again being known by the bulb it famously represents. 12.9"x15.5"x1" |
