Medium: oil on deep cradled wood Russian Birch
Note: This item is only sold online This 20x20x1.5 inch oil is done on a cradled wood exhibition Rusian Birch panel. The wood surface makes for a very smooth application of the artist quality paints. Once dried it was varnished with a high gloss Gamvar varnish giving it a glowing shine. I would walk past this gnarled old elm tree when visiting our daughter in Nova Scotia. This particular evening the setting sun made for a fabulous contrast of the dark limbs against the orange sky. The next time I visited it had been cut down and stacked for firewood. However, it looked like the old monarch had raised a few offspring around the area, so it would live on.
