It is protected with Gamvar varnish which gives it a pleasant glossy finish. When we visited Newfoundland we were impressed with the beauty of the province and the friendliness of its’ people. One of our many trips was to Fogo Island, which llies off the northeast coast and involves a 45 minute ferry trip. We stayed overnight and the next morning took a drive around the Island. As we found on the main Island, the locals here keep their places very clean and tidy. This was a little cove we drove to before heading back to the ferry.
