Hi, I’m Nilasha, an India and Canada-based artist, currently studying at Emily Carr University of Art + Design. I come from a small state in Northeast India called Assam, where I grew up surrounded by nature and wildlife. It’s where I feel most at home, my quiet place, my hiding space, my escape. Observing the world around me, the way light moves through trees, the pause of an animal mid-step, the sound of waves hitting the shore, brings me a kind of peace I can’t always put into words. Painting is how I hold on to those moments. My name itself means blue (nila) and hope (asha), and through my work, I try to offer both, a sense of calm and a quiet invitation to reconnect with the natural world we often overlook.
