Matsuyo is a Japanese name meaning pine tree, generation and lifetime, or age of the pine. Bauvards quote inspires this piece: “The sexy don't get wrinkles, they add love lines like a tree adds rings” Creating this piece, I used both modern and age old techniques. I first sketched the design, them drafted it into CAD to print the jewellers wax using a 3d printer, from there it undergoes a very old technique called lost wax casting. After casting it is hand finished. The log cross section is about 20mm in diameter, which is hung in a 18” sterling silver cable chain.
