Medium: Sterling silver plated in 18k gold

Matsuyo is a Japanese name meaning pine tree, generation and lifetime, or age of the pine. Bauvards quote inspires this piece: “The sexy don't get wrinkles, they add love lines like a tree adds rings” Creating this piece, I used both modern and age old techniques. I first sketched the design, them drafted it into CAD to print the jewellers wax using a 3d printer, from there it undergoes a very old technique called lost wax casting. After casting it is hand finished. Once the final polish has been achieved, it is electro plated in 18k gold. The log cross section is about 20mm in diameter, which are hung on french ear wires
