Burano Island, 24 x 36 framed in a pleasing reddish-brown 2 inch frame which enhances the reds in the painting itself. in Italy is a unique place which houses one of the only lace-making businesses left in the world. It was a fascinating thing to watch. The old lady who makes the lace, had made a wedding dress, various shawls and small individual pieces that were a work of art themselves. This form of art is slowly dying, as the younger generation does not want to learn it, which is a great shame, and we will lose one of our great historic crafts. |
