I have a degree in Psychology, and the principles of Gestalt psychology have always fascinated me. These principles describe how we interpret and process complex stimuli around us, namely, similarity, continuation, closure, proximity, figure/ground, and symmetry & order. How one perceives art can also be explained by the Gestalt theory of trying to find meaning in how and what we perceive through our mind, and associating a particular meaning with a specific image.
