Medium: oils on gallery wrapped deep canvas
This item is sold online only An oil painting done on gallery wrapped canvas 12x16x1.5 inch. The painting continues around the sides of the canvas to keep the continuity of the piece and present it nicely to the viewer. It has been treated with Gamblin satin varnish to give it a soft lustre, lift the saturation of the oil paints and even the surface of the painting. It also helps protects the piece from dust and UV rays. This old dory was abandoned on a grassy shore on Prince Edward Island. We were visiting PEI for a week on our way to Nova Scotia and had enjoyed exploring this tiny province with its red soil and quiet beaches. We had seen several boats left to bleach in the sun while we were there. They make an appealing painting, but it is sad to see them so unceremoniously discarded by the owners they had served well.
