Visual Arts
I grew up surrounded by art and craft materials, as my mother was a creative and artistic kindergarten teacher. Our dining room table was rarely used for dining, as it was filled with art and craft supplies and ongoing projects. It was our "go to" area for leisure activities. My most prized possession was an 8th birthday gift of professional quality Prismacolour pencil crayons, which I used to create art and my own art gallery, using the back of my closet door. Over the years, I acquired skills in photography, print making, film animation, and jewelry design, but I've always returned to drawing and painting. Currently I focus on painting in watercolours and acrylics, using both western and Asian techniques, and on making handcrafted art cards, using combinations of origami-iris fold, embossing, and pop-up techniques.
