The Meadow Art Studio
Maggie O'Shaughnessy
Visual Arts
Originally from a small fishing village in Newfoundland, Maggie was born under a wandering star. She left Newfoundland and traveled all over the world collecting adventures, accolades and memories. Recently calling Galiano Island her full time home, she lives in the forest and her art studio is located on her property. A painter since childhood she is a member of the Canadian Federation of Artists, and also the International Society of Encaustic Artists.
Her favorite medium in Encaustic, oil paint and beeswax. While waiting for this to cure and dry which can take some time, she also paints with fast drying high pigment acrylics.
Lucky to live in an artist paradise with pristine nature, and panorama views and perfect light - she paints full time. Ravens live around her home, and studying them became the basis for her newest show "The Ravens of Galiano Island" showing exclusively in Vancouver at the Pacific Arts Market.
An avid sea kayaker, many of the backgrounds to her paintings are from the perspective of being on the sea looking back at Galiano. Her landscapes border on fantasy, in combining beautiful sea and forest vistas with Ravens.
