James Darin Corbiere Waab Shki Makwa
Visual Arts
My name is James Darin Corbiere or Waab Shki Makwa (White Bear) I am Anishinaabe from the Great Lakes region and belong to the Bear Clan. I began my artwork in November 2015 as part of my healing from church related childhood trauma.
I work exclusively with planks of White Ash (they're the only ones who tell me stories) using various types of ink with copper embellishments.
The stories are contained in the wood grain, the same way an old record contains information in the grooves.
My goal is to have my artwork in Japan, and your support is appreciated.
