Myriam Laberge Fine Art
Artful Voyage
Visual Arts
Myriam's evocative acrylic abstracts and impressions tell colourful stories of real and imagined landscapes and people. Original acrylic paintings and limited edition Giclee prints.
Bio: Myriam paints acrylic abstracts and impressionistic nature scenes inspired by the two contrasting locales where she resides during the year: BC coastal scenes and Alberta boreal forest. Initially a rural girl at heart, she remains captivated by forest, and water, big skies, all the seasons, and flowers. Since taking up painting in her adult years, Myriam has become increasingly drawn to story, creative play, and abstraction, experimenting with colour, texture, and collage through a spirit of adventure and discovery.
Artist's Statement: My artful voyage is inspired by the spirit of discovery. Andre Gide said: "You can't discover new oceans unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore." For me this means colourful nature… Intriguing pattern… Texture… Ambiguity and abstraction… Story… Happiness in the accident (raku meaning) …
Impressionism and abstract art intrigue me; there is always something new to see and interpret. I enjoy painting in acrylic allowing experimentation and play to guide how the work develops and unfolds. My passion is colour, surprise, discovery; new possibilities and inspiring ideas. My studio and home are located in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada for most of the year, and our Alberta lakeside lodge offers makeshift studio space the rest of the time. Many of my paintings are in private collections in Quebec, Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia and the United States.
I am an Active Member of the South Delta Artist Guild and two-term Board Member, as well as a Supporting Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists.
