Michelle Simon

I am a visual artist from Ireland, where I worked as a scenic artist for film.

I made the move to Vancouver in 2018 and with this move came a new body of work.

I work on a relatively large scale, using oils in a realist manner. My work incorporates the figure, nature and
architecture.

This new body of work reflects on what was left behind, restrictions, personal fears and my beginning to move forward, a new freedom.

Using tiles and pattern alongside the bird, I am exploring repetition, imperfections and self inflicted captivity.
