Therise has been in visual communications for over thirty years, and is currently senior graphic designer with a national food product company. Her professional career presents Therise with opportunities to explore creative pursuits and to fuel her “right-brain” personality.
She started watercolour painting five years ago and quickly discovered that her passion painting people, capturing a feeling,a memory or moment in someone’s life. She also enjoys capturing nature’s detail, especially images relating to the west coast or prairie provinces.
She is often found with her camera taking spontaneous photos of people’s emotions or capturing a detail of nature. Often she will find a photo from a friend that inspires her next watercolour painting.
Therise lives in Nanaimo with her husband and two dogs. She has three grown children and enjoys painting in her studio that overlooks Departure Bay, giving the perfect backdrop for daydreaming and inspiration.
Achievements include: a painting of a senior woman won first place in 2D and in watercolour from The Ladysmith Biennial Fine Art competition, and numerous paintings were accepted and displayed at the Canadian Federation of Arts in Vancouver. Therise’s art hangs in various locations throughout BC and Alberta.
