Visual Arts

Signe is a Canadian artist living in Vancouver on the unceded territories of the Squamish, T-sleil Waututh and Musqueam First Nations. As a child, she knew she was an artist, and the balance of her life has been in refining how to use her creativity in a way that benefits the earth. She has studied and worked with Canadian artists, Lavender Woodman, Bob High, Lee Hutzulak, Jaime Black, Jozetta Stych, Jade Hullen, Blake Drezet, Autumn Skye Morrison, Dominick Modlinski and Greg Hanec among others. Her contemporary influences include Jackie Traverse, Shepard Fairey and Banksy. She is also known as PsychoActivist Studios, along with Bob High. Since moving to Vancouver in 2016, she has held three exhibitions; Weed Warriors - celebrating cannabis activists, scientists and farmers; BioIlluminati - portraying bioluminescent creatures in blacklight and glow paintings, and now; Orca Strait - an imagination of the Salish Sea and whales in a time when the water level is high and there is no city here.
Signe is calling her style post-realism, incorporating elements of Fantasy, Magic Realism, Street Art, Portraiture and Landscape. She uses mostly acrylic paint, ink and watercolour. She often re-uses and upcycles art supplies in creating her work. She is also a musician, writer, herbalist, Green Party politician, mother and grandmother.
