BaskArts is a Fairtrade initiative to connect Zimbabwean women artisans with a market to sell their handwoven baskets. As the initiative is still in its pilot stages, we also carry other African curio art items, most of which are made from upycled materials. I Collaborate with the artisans on designs and quality maintenance to provide items that are contemporary, unique, functional and timeless.
My father is a wire sculptor (Samuel Musharu some of his pieces can be found online), and I grew up surrounded by artifacts and attending many art exhibitions and gatherings. With economic problems that have grasped my home country, Zimbabwe my initiative is focused on providing sustainable opportunities for marginalized artisans.
