Creatives By Jen Young
Hi there, my name is Jen Young, I am a local artist here in Vancouver, BC. I have always loved art and the process of creating. I learned how to make pottery at a local recreation center while in high school and later in life, I returned to it. I have been a member of the Parkgate Community Center Pottery Studio in North Vancouver, BC for the past 20 years. I always look forward to creating with my hands and interacting with other studio members. Spending time at the studio is one of my favorite pass times.
I also love creating artisan soaps and beeswax food wraps. I am passionate about the environment and wanted to make things to reduce waste and be more environmentally friendly. By creating beeswax food wraps, it is reducing the need for plastic and helping in my strive to move to a more zero waste lifestyle. I also love selecting fun fabrics for my beeswax food wraps. I love the creative process of making soap which brings together my love of art by creating new designs and patterns and my love of science by figuring out new recipes. Each oil has different combinations and percentages of fatty acids which lend to different characteristics in the soap, like having more lather or a harder bar of soap.
